Dr. Hartman works alongside each patient to define desired results and deliver exceptional-looking outcomes that can enhance your entire appearance.
Making an Informed Decision
Considering otoplasty for yourself or your child? Before you or someone you love undergoes an otoplasty procedure, you will first schedule a consultation with Dr. Hartman. During this appointment, he will examine your ears, discuss your surgical options, and help you decide if this procedure is a good choice to achieve your aesthetic goals. Dr. Hartman is double board-certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and can provide expert guidance on the best surgical approach for you. Our caring and professional team is here to help you plan your procedure and support you all the way through full recovery.
How is Otoplasty performed?
Otoplasty is a fairly simple plastic surgery that is performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can go home after your surgery is finished. Depending on your case specifics and the complexity of the procedure, otoplasty may be performed under local anesthesia, where you are awake with the treatment area numbed, or with the assistance of Pro-Nox, a patient-administered nitrous oxide. Most otoplasty procedures take about one to three hours. During an otoplasty Dover plastic surgeon, Dr. Hartman, makes an incision, either inside the folds of your ear or on the back of the ear, to help hide any possible scars. Then, depending on your needs, he will either remove cartilage and/or skin, fold and shape the cartilage using permanent stitches, or graft cartilage. Once this is complete, he'll close the surgical incision with stitches, and you'll be done.
What you don’t notice matters most
If you are unhappy with the shape or position of your ears, you may find it difficult to see yourself clearly in a positive light. Otoplasty surgery can help take the focus off of this one feature. By moving your ears to a less prominent position or correcting other unwanted structural variations, otoplasty gives your face a more streamlined, balanced appearance. Results are permanent, so you can enjoy the outcome of this outpatient procedure for life.
Feel Better
After your Otoplasty New Philadelphia experts, Fine Arts Skin and Laser team will monitor you in our comfortable recovery area for a short time before you return home the same day. Make sure to follow the aftercare instructions we provide and attend your post-operative appointment one week after surgery so we can check your healing. You may have soreness, which can be well managed with over-the-counter medication. Full recovery from otoplasty surgery will take three to six weeks, though your results will be visible much sooner.
Our average cost for otoplasty surgery is between $3,800 and $7,000. We are happy to provide an estimate for your individual procedure at your consultation.
Nearly anyone five years old and older, who is interested in improving the projection, shape, position, or proportion of their ears, is a potential candidate for an otoplasty procedure. Patients must be healthy, preferably non-smokers without any ear infections to be considered. If you are thinking about having your child undergo an otoplasty procedure, it’s important that they follow both pre-and post-procedure care directions.

"I am a 36-year-old mom of four boys. Before meeting with Dr. Hartman, my body, self-confidence, and mental health were destroyed, and I was dependent on three medications for depression/anxiety. I am currently on ZERO!! Let me tell you, Dr. Hartman and the staff at Fine Arts Skin and Laser are, hands down, simply Amazing! I went in for my consult very skeptical, scared, and ashamed of my body, but I came out with my self-confidence boosted and a load of knowledge and ended up scheduling my surgery a week later. I had my procedure at the end of that month--high def lipo in multiple areas (inner thighs, abdomen, love handles, bra roll, & under chin), living fat transfer..."
